Father Mcgivney

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Blessed Michael McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify Blessed Michael McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intersession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the Canonization of Blessed Michael McGivney

Dear Sister Columbiettes,

I hope everyone had a happy and Blessed Easter. April was a busy month for us beginning with many of us attending the Testimonial Luncheon for Past President Lisa Ligorio at the Meadow Club on April 7th.  Next, we held our Memorial Mass for our departed sister Columbiettes at Mt. Carmel RC Church on April 14, followed by the joint Knights of Columbus/Patchogue Columbiettes Communion Breakfast enjoying the delicious food prepared by the Knights. The following week we began assembling the baskets for the Victorian Tea and Chinese Auction, on May 5th.  I would like to thank all the Columbiettes who helped and give a big thank you to Kevin Handley for helping us with the clean up and his great ideas for some of the baskets. Another big thank you to John Terlecki for all his help making the baskets. Just a reminder the tickets for the Victorian Tea are $20.00 per person. I also want to thank Ronny Pliszak for donating her handmade cancer quilt to the Victorian Tea. It will be displayed as a special donation to the American Cancer Society with tickets selling at $5.00. We ask the person winning it to pass it on to someone with cancer.

We hosted the Suffolk Chapter Bingo on April 21st. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all. We still need help with the Victorian Tea finishing making baskets, making sandwiches and desserts, setting up/cleaning up, and selling tickets. Please contact me at 631-790-2212 or Betty Weeks at 804-243-6056. One last reminder, we are hosting this years Friendship Night on May 7th at the Sunset Harbor Restaurant. Tickets for this event are $65.00 per person.

Happy Birthday to all the March Babies.

God Bless,

Marsha Laakmann, President
